“My language learning at the Hellenic Centre was a complete joy and the place itself became like a second home for several years. I needed to learn Greek from scratch very quickly for work reasons, so they matched me with a teacher who could see me twice a week for two-hour lessons, one to one.  My teacher was superb – we not only went through all the grammatical structures of the language, which are highly complex compared with most other European languages, but he also passed on to me a vast amount of Greek culture at the same time.

And he answered every question I had on Greece itself – politics and history too. The lessons were both fun, exciting and very challenging.  The Centre itself is a beautiful place to come and the teaching rooms are a wonderful environment – it doesn’t feel like a “school” but a place of culture and learning.  In tandem with the lesson themselves, it was also wonderful to attend all the music/history/cultural events held at the Hellenic Centre, which expanded my knowledge and understanding of this wonderful country.
