Antony Penrose, son of American photographer Lee Miller and British surrealist artist Roland Penrose, presents his father’s book The Road Is Wider Than Long. A love poem created as a photo-book that recounts a journey the couple made together through the Balkans in 1938, visiting Greece and isolated rural communities in Romania.

Cookbook author, food writer and cook Carolina Doriti explores the timelessness, simplicity and wisdom of Greek cuisine. She will explain in depth the Greek products which have shaped the cuisine for thousands of years, as well as cooking methods, sustainability and her approach to cooking through her cookbook Salt of the Earth. What connects the early 4th and 19th century Mediterranean? Women. Female mobility had increased significantly following centuries of restricted travel, yet our views of the Mediterranean in these periods are still shaped by the writing of men. With a focus on archaeology and diaries of women, Rebecca Sweetman, Director of the British School at Athens, will seek to find the female traveller’s voice.
