Runciman Award Ceremony 2024

At The Great Hall, King’s Building Strand on 17 Jun

Since 1986, The Anglo-Hellenic League Runciman Award has been given every year for the best book published in English anywhere in the world in the previous year on a Greek subject. The ceremony is our annual opportunity to announce the winning book, award the prize to the winning author, and celebrate all of the books long-listed and short-listed for the prize. At this year’s ceremony, the keynote address will be given by Prof. Alexander Lingas. The winning book will be announced by Prof. Judith Mossman, the chair of judges. Prof. Gonda Van Steen and Dr John Kittmer will give welcome addresses.

An Evening with Explorer Stephanie Solomonides

Stephanie, an experienced skier and explorer, is an English School graduate and the first, and so far the only, person from Cyprus to have reached both the North and South Poles.  

Stephanie will share with us her experience and knowledge gained from being part of this all-female team from seven Commonwealth countries and what this endeavour has taught her about leadership, teamwork and overcoming obstacles and challenges that lead to our better understanding of ourselves and others.

Katie Lentakis Award Ceremony 2024

At King's College London on 18 Jun

Katie Lentakis (1920-2000) was a devoted member of the Anglo-Hellenic community of London and served as Vice-Chairman of The Anglo-Hellenic League for many years. Since 2002, a fund established in her memory has given an annual prize to a final-year undergraduate studying in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at King’s College London for a dissertation on a Greek topic. At the ceremony, the 2024 winner will be announced and the prize awarded. This year’s lecture will be given by Prof. M.M. McCabe.
