Being human in relation to the natural world is a motif running through the sculpture, film & photography of Cross, connecting her work with the animist beliefs of the ancient world. At The Hellenic Centre on 25 Oct 2025Following her summer residency at Gasworks, London and her solo presentations at Frieze Art Fair and Hot Wheels, Athens, artist Anastasia Pavlou will be in conversation with theatre director and stage designer Fabio Cherstich. Together, they will draw connections between Pavlou’s research of theatre theory, theatricality, composition and staging as a painter, with Cherstich’s work as an experimental theatre and opera director. Circling diverse fields of theatre, performance, staging, painting and language, the talk will be followed by a Q&A session.

Performed by Michael Dukakis and directed by Tatiana Skanatovits, this acclaimed one-man show has captivated audiences in Athens, London, and New York. Clever, moving, and sharply funny – a theatrical gem, not to be missed. Performed in Greek with English subtitles.

This is the London premiere of RUSH(ES) and spaces are limited.

It marks the first comprehensive presentation in London of contemporary artists’ books by Greek and British visual artists in dialogue.

The conversation will be led by Dr. Liana Giannakopoulou, Senior Research Fellow at the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics, University of Cambridge.’

Mikhail Karikis: Acoustics of Resistance
on 03 Jul 2025Drawing on Mikhail Karikis’ longstanding project Acoustics of Resistance, this conversation and performance delve into the power of sound, breath, and deep listening as tools for collective action and social transformation. Through participatory sound-making, vocalisations and silence, the event explores how sonic practices can cultivate resilience, solidarity, and activism in times of crisis. Artist Mikhail Karikis will be in conversation with curator Sofia Victorino. Presented in collaboration with The Showroom Gallery, on the occasion of Karikis’ new exhibition.

Speakers are Dr Afroditi Koulaxi, LSE 100 Fellow at the London School of Economics, Ioanna Gkoutna, PhD Candidate at University College London, Dr Charoula Tzanakou, Director of CDPRP and Reader in Human Resource Management at Oxford Brookes Business School and Dr Sophie Chamas, Senior Lecturer in Gender Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies.
