maMA, TROo BAmies/ Mum, I eat ocra now
Dear Greek immigrants of the UK,
How long have you been here for? Three months? Eighty-five years? Reason for immigration? If this country was a sound, what kind of sound would it be? What would it taste like? Five senses… Countless emotions… Do you always tell your family back home how you are feeling? Do they treat you like a Caryatid? If your life here was one of the popular tales we grew up with, which character would you be? In a fantasy world, what would you change to make this country the perfect place to live? Would you make it more homely? How do you define home? Is it true that everybody hates eating their mama’s ocra back home? Is it true that Greeks love smashing plates?
Why don’t we immerse in each other’s culture?
