Crimes of the Future: Film Screening and Q&A
Thursday 23 Nov 2023
Cult film director David Cronenberg famously produces films with controversial storylines and body horror imagery. His 2022 film, Crimes of the Future, depicts Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen) who is a celebrity performance artist. Along with his partner Caprice (Lea Seydoux), he publicly showcases the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde performances.
Crimes of the Future is a remake from an earlier script devised in the 1990s which is vastly different from the original. After the screening, author of Cronenberg on Cronenberg, Chris Rodley, will take questions discussing the film and its reception.
This event is a collaboration with the Freud Museum, London.
Chris Rodley is the editor of Cronenberg on Cronenberg (1996) and of Lynch on Lynch (1997). He was previously the Co-Director of Cinema at the Institute of Contemporary Arts from 1979-1984. He has made films for television, as well as a short film based on a story by Raymond Carver.
