In Conversation: Christina Mitrentse and Fiona Mouzakitis with Stephen Emmerson

Join us for a breakfast reception, followed by a conversation hosted by curators Christina Mitrentse and Fiona Mouzakitis, alongside artist Stephen Emmerson. The talk will explore the interactive exhibition BOOKMORPHS: Artists’ Books from Greece and the UK, which brings together 44 artists’ books and objects by contributors from both countries. A Q&A session will follow the discussion.
The exhibition marks the first comprehensive presentation in London of contemporary artists’ books by Greek and British visual artists in dialogue.

Fiona Mouzakitis
Fiona Mouzakitis is an artist and curator based in Athens. She studied at the University of Reading in the UK, where she earned a BA (Hons) in History of Art and Architecture, and also completed a Foundation course at Chelsea School of Art in London. She is the co-founder of Project 2 Athens, an independent artists’ initiative she runs with Despina Stavrou. The project organises exhibitions and art events, fostering dialogue and collaboration within the contemporary art scene. Fiona is also the co-creator of the YouTube channel Athens Art Walk, which she runs with George Vlassopoulos. The channel features over 600 videos documenting art openings, exhibitions, and interviews with artists, offering a vibrant and accessible archive of Athens’ contemporary art landscape.
Christina Mitrentse
Christina Mitrentse (b. 1977) is an interdisciplinary, Greek-born visual artist who has lived and worked in London for over 20 years. Holding an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Art & Design, Mitrentse has taught at several Art & Design colleges in London. She also runs a curatorial service supporting multidisciplinary emerging and established artists, working in collaboration with various galleries and art centres across London and Europe.
Her practice is defined by the book as both form and content, serving as a metaphor for the human condition. She is the creator of the ongoing participatory project Add To My Library (#ATML) and the Bibliographic Data Flow (#BDF), which archives favourite book titles, enriching a #Meta-library. Through installation (book-scapes), wall-based works, handmade book-sculpture, performance, drawing and collage, she explores themes within the book arts genre—particularly destruction, archiving, evaluation, and the transmission of knowledge in a contemporary global reality in crisis.
Mitrentse is represented by Citronne Galleries Athens–Poros. She has exhibited extensively, with 22 solo exhibitions and over 200 group shows in galleries, museums and public spaces including: Tate Modern, the Royal Academy, ICA London, MOMus, EMST, PIAF Art Fair, Brussels Art Fair, London Art Fair, Art Fair Rotterdam, Liverpool Biennale UK, XV Biennale de la Mediterranea, 2nd Bodrum International Biennial (Turkey), NDSM-Werf Amsterdam, MOMus Greece, EMST Athens, Jewish Museum of Greece, Hackney Museum London, Nadine Feront Gallery Brussels, Dalla Rosa Gallery, the Stephen Lawrence Gallery, Central Booking NY, the Centre for Book Arts NY, San Francisco Center for the Book, Hiroshima (Japan), Rise Berlin (Germany), and Helsinki Contemporary Gallery (Finland).
