Aoide’s Wandering Ouzeri: Amalgama, Online Live stream
In Greece, the Ouzeri is a place where friends can meet up, chat, tell their stories, over some mezes and a drink. The atmosphere is coloured by the sound of a small group of musicians wandering through the melodies and rhythms of Greece’s rich tapestry of songs. Aoide, our Muse of Song, will travel from home to home, venue to venue, sharing with you the story of Greece’s music with different musicians every month. The songs of Smyrna, Rebetiko, Crete, Thrace, Endehno and more…sometimes as a live stream, sometimes as a pre recorded performance, join us to keep the music going and meet up through the live chat!
Musicians
George Angelopoulos: lute, bouzouki, mandolin
George Tsolakis: voice, guitar
Konstantinos Rafeletos: voice, lute, baglama
Amalgama, in their own words:
It’s been a while since our last online gig, therefore we decided to kick the new year off with a live streaming Amalgama gig on Sunday 24th of January at 6pm!
Join us for an evening full of Greek tunes – mostly traditional from various Greek regions and some ‘entehno’ ones – and let’s welcome the new year with what brings us all together and gives us hope: music!
The event is supported and will be streamed via the Rebetiko Carnival channel (special thanks!).
Formed in 2016 in London by G. Aggelopoulos, K. Rafeletos and G. Tsolakis, Amalgama consists of 3 musicians from diverse musical backgrounds who share the same love for Greek music. The band’s influences range from traditional folk songs originated from various parts of Greece to more modern compositions which bear the ‘signature’ of significant artists.
