The Cultural Fund
EXPLORE. CELEBRATE. SUPPORT
Embrace Greek art and culture through music, theatre, dance, film and visual arts. Be part of the Centre’s Future.
Philanthropic support has been at the heart of the Hellenic Centre since its inception and has played a vital role in our past.
Our aim is to raise £350,000 to support an enhanced cultural offering at the Hellenic Centre.
Building on the Hellenic Centre’s history and values, we are moving into a new, exciting phase where we explore the significance, impact and connections our culture has with the contemporary world and other communities.
Under the helm of Dr Nayia Yiakoumaki, who became the Director in Autumn 2022, the Centre is looking to provide new offerings of interest to its existing community, while also engaging audiences who are new to the Centre. Dr Yiakoumaki brings a wealth of experience in the cultural and the academic sector. She has worked for more than 30 years in the arts, being the Co-director of Athens Biennale and Director of International Networks to Head of Curatorial Studies and Archives at Whitechapel Gallery, where she also managed the NEON Curatorial Exchange and Award founded by NEON, Athens.
She says: I am honoured to be the Director of The Hellenic Centre as we grow and become a serious contributor to London’s cultural scene and a destination for diverse communities.
The Centre will discover and share work that derives from, refers to and creates dialogue with Greek culture. To establish this new phase, we have created The Cultural Fund, which will support our vision to:
- Explore and celebrate Greek art across multiple art forms and its influence from the past, in the present and for the future.
- Improve our exhibition facilities in all areas including lighting, climate controls and display systems.
- Diversify our programme to appeal to current and new visitors and become central to London’s cultural scene, both for those from the Greek and Cypriot diaspora as well as for wider culturally-minded communities.
Individual support
Contribute to the Cultural Fund as an individual supporter and you can help to bring exciting contemporary Greek culture to London. Enjoy the benefits as our way of saying thank you.
