O Bάσος Καραγιώργης όπως τον γνώρισα (Vasos Karageorgis as I came to know him)

This book began as a speech delivered at the presentation of the autobiographical book by the Cypriot archaeologist Vasos Karageorghis, Memories, Nostalgias, and Uprootings. Trikomo–Salamis, in Nicosia, in the summer of 2018. The desire, expressed from many quarters, for that text to be made public led to its expansion with additional material, resulting in this publication—a brief portrayal of this significant figure of Cyprus, whose influence extends internationally.

Personal experiences drawn from years of observing the activities of a man who brought to light many valuable aspects of Cyprus’s ancient past, combined with an understanding of the diverse and ongoing impact of his work—his excavations, writings, and teaching around the world—contributed to the shaping of a concise portrait in a personal tone, which approaches the man, the scholar, and his work with originality and honesty, with appreciation and affection.
