A history of the Greek island of Lemnos looking back through the centuries to Byzantium and Ottoman times and to the liberation of the island from Ottoman rule in 1912. It also documents he extraordinary events of 1915 which made Lemnos the base for the Gallipoli campaign and brought many thousands of people – mostly men but also women – to Mudros Bay on Lemnos.
