Great Hall
The Great Hall at the Hellenic Centre is a versatile venue, a blank canvas that can be adapted to a wide range of social or corporate events; it’s a large, neutral white space with high ceilings and natural daylight from above.
Hire of the Great Hall also includes the spacious Balcony – a mezzanine floor which offers a view down on events taking place in the Great Hall itself. The Balcony can be used for facilitating purposes or as a break out room for up to 15 people.

Decoration / Installation
Any decoration / installation in the Great Hall must be agreed with us in the first instance and must not compromise the venues licence and / or health and safety regulations.
The following special effect or mechanical installations are not permitted:
- Dry ice and cryogenic fog
- Smoke machines and fog generators
- Pyrotechnics including fire works
- Firearms
- Lasers
- Explosives and highly flammable substances
- Real flame
- Strobe Lighting
Features
Power supply
The Great Hall has 3 Phase Power (32 amp) supply leading from the balcony area. There is also a single-phase supply on a separate circuit at floor level (with approx. 21 x 13 amp power sockets).
Structural load capacity
The ceiling trusses can take a substantial amount of weight for lighting rigs.
Additional demountable lighting equipment must be suspended from nodal points only, on the bottle Tie member of the truss. A maximum Characteristic load of 3.0 kN can be suspended from a single nodal point.
The load must be applied symmetrically to the equivalent nodes on the opposite side of the truss.
Any planned rigging must be agreed in advance with the HC.

Hanging rail system
The Great Hall is fitted with a hanging rail system for exhibitions of paintings, photographs and posters. Nylon strings and adjustable self-locking hooks will be provided by the Hellenic Centre, each string can accommodate a load of 10 kg.
All exhibits must be pre-prepared for hanging with hooks or hanging wires fixed to the back.
Sticking things to the walls is not permitted.
House lights
House lighting is on dimmer switches. Track lighting runs along the two long walls.
Hearing loop
An induction loop is provided for the benefit of hearing aid users.
Users should switch their hearing aids to the “T” position. Please note that the best reception is in the middle of the room as it could be very loud towards the edges of the Great Hall.
Seating
Comfortable seating is available for various layouts of the Great Hall.
Piano
A Steinway concert grand piano is the only item that cannot be removed from this space.
It is available for hire which includes one tuning.
