Papanicolaou Prize 2017
Hellenic Medical Society would like to invite you to participate in the annual Papanicolaou Prize competition, which will take place at the Hellenic Centre in the evening of 23 November 2017.
Original research papers in the fields of medicine, biomedical sciences or related areas are invited. To ensure that the work is current, it should be either unpublished, or no more than a year (on the date of the presentation) from the date of its first online publication.
We will select 4-6 candidates from the submitted abstracts to present their work and participate in the competition. Candidates will have to give a 10-minute presentation, followed by a 5-minute discussion. The winner(s) will be decided by a panel consisting of the President, Past President and President-Elect of the HMS UK, and Professor Michael Koutroumanidis, from King’s College London, who will honour us with his presence as our external judge this year and will also give a talk with the title “Epilepsy and sleep: an intimate relationship”.
Candidates must be 38 years or younger and below Consultant or Senior Scientist status, or the equivalent in other areas. They should be members or eligible for membership of the Hellenic Medical Society, UK.
The amount awarded as a prize will total £250. The panel reserves the right to divide this between two candidates, and / or to award additional smaller prizes to other presenters.
Closing date for submission of abstracts of no more than 400 words is the 15th November 2017.
Please send your entry or enquiries to Dr Marinos Kyriakopoulos, HMS president at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Consultants, senior scientists and group leaders are invited to encourage their juniors to enter the competition.
