Open House Event
Open House – Free entry to London’s best buildings!
For the first time in its 25-year history, every London borough is participating in this year’s Open House, with free entry to more than 800 of the city’s most compelling buildings. The Hellenic Centre’s home, a beautiful Portland stone building, is one of these.
Proud to participate in this year’s Silver Anniversary , the Hellenic Centre opens its doors to the public to discover the interesting story behind its elegant building dating back to the 1900s.
Two unique exhibitions will complement the visitors’ experience:
Mind Caves by Triantafyllos Vaitsis, a shadow sculpture exhibition in the Friends Room &
Mediterranean Encounters by Andreas Georgiadis, a paintings exhibition in the Great Hall
A bit more about “Open House“
Now in its silver anniversary year, Open House London is a city-wide celebration of the buildings, places, and neighbourhoods where we live, work and play.
The initiative is a simple but powerful concept: for one weekend in September hundreds of great buildings of all types and periods open their doors to all, completely for free. Each year a quarter of a million people take the opportunity to get out and get under the skin of London’s amazing architecture.
Highlights this year include the recently revamped New Scotland Yard; London’s latest iconic tower, nicknamed ‘the vase’; an urban farm in Waterloo; an exhibition by starchitect Norman Foster and the gargantuan Francis Crick Institute at King’s Cross.
